August 27, 6 to 8 PM Mark Your Calendar!

On Sunday, August 27, 2006, I will be presenting a musical singalong and dance program at Kuser Farm Park in the gazebo. My program is called, "Once Upon a Time There Was Music." The program is from 6 to 8 PM and will allow all of us who like to drive while there is still light to get home early! No reservations required and the program is free, so bring a folding chair or a blanket and come back to what will prove to be a bittersweet nostagic "Sentimental Journey!" We'll be remembering and singing the songs of Patti Page, Joni James, Rosemary Clooney, Perry Como, Frankie Laine, Don Cornell, Tony Bennett, Glenn Miller, Andy Williams, and all those great artists with whom we in the over 50 generation grew up. There's a concrete dance floor adjacent to the gazebo, and it is available for those of you who remember how to jitterbug, polka, waltz, stroll, and of course, I didn’t forget the line dancers! I hope to see many of you there. Rain date is the next night, Monday, August 28, same time.

h of us has his or her own very favorite teacher.
Louise Baird is the choice of both Judy and me. It was in "Aunt Louise's" apartment at 1420 Hamilton Avenue that Judy and I spent the years following graduation, helping her as well as we could when her mother passed away in the summer of 1951. "Ouise" is responsible for whatever musical talents I may have exhibited over the years and she also had a direct influence on how to maintain a happy married life. Her system worked. Judy and I are in our 53rd year of marital bliss.

2006: John "Jake" Conover
I was saddened this morning when I read of the passing of Jack Conover, a classmate of mine in the class of '51. "Jake" Conover was one of the lynchpins in our class, and a very popular guy. He was an athlete, and a leader in the management of our class. Jake was one of a number of class of '51 alumni who didn't attend our reunions, but that doesn't mean we forgot him. So sorry I didn't get an opportunity to see you after we all left HHS, Jake, but you should know that you were an important part of HHS '51, "The Class With Class." You will be included on the prayer list at my church.

MY GUESTBOOK
Over twelve hundred visitors and not a single guestbook entry? Either my guestbook source is throwing up roadblocks to those who sign or I amdoing something WRONG!
Hello, is anyone out there?
The guestbook is not for accolades and other forms of encouragement. I would like to know that you visited, and from which class. This information will determine if I continue to post the newer classes from the 80's and 90's. If you're "guestbook shy," just type in John Doe HHS '67, of course don't sign in as "John Doe" unless you're on the lam!

VISIT THE GENUINE HHS WEST WEBSITE
You will note that this is the"UNOFFICIAL" HHS website. Did you check in to the GENUINE, ORIGINAL article, and if you did, did you include your name in the alumni section? If your answer to either of these questions is "no," may I suggest you CUT AND PASTE, OR OTHERWISE add this URL to your favorite sites, and by all means, add your name to the alumni list.

A Photo from "Retrospect;" Year Unknown

1987: Mary Correia's Hornet Outfit
ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10, 10 BEING THE ULTIMATE, I CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE AT LEAST A 9 WHEN IT COMES TO "THINGS COMPUTER."
HOWEVER, THERE IS ONE SITUATION WHICH IS QUITE PERPLEXING AND VERY ANNOYING. THE PHOTO ACCOMPANYING THIS POST HAS BEEN SCANNED AT THE SAME RESOLUTION, STORED IN THE SAME FOLDER, AND GIVEN THE SAME "JPEG" SUFFIX AS ALL THE SCANS ON MY SITE. IN CLICKING THE IMAGE TO ENLARGE IT, I AM AT A COMPLETE LOSS TO EXPLAIN WHY I GET A MESSAGE "FILE NOT FOUND - ERROR 404" IS A COMPLETE MYSTERY. SORRY I CAN'T RESOLVE THIS VERY ANNOYING PROBLEM WHICH ONLY CROPS UP ON RARE OCCASIONS.
Here's a graphic and living example of that good old fashioned ingenuity for which Hamilton "Hornets" are noted! Mary Correia, if by some chance you are a visitor to my site, let me know whatever happened to your hornet costume.

A TIP FROM TOM
In order to be sure you are seeing ALL the posts on HHS51, go to the right of the screen and find the "ARCHIVES" link which is just above the counter. Click on "APRIL" (or whatever month you want to view). This should load the complete posts for the month. For some un-explained reason, the entire month is not displayed when the site is accessed.
